Sandals Halycon Beach Review
INTRO

Purpose: Help you decide if Sandals Halycon Beach in St. Lucia is the right resort for you.
RESORT OVERVIEW
Low-key, all-inclusive with lots of greenery and a long stretch of beach.
One of three Sandals resorts in St. Lucia — positioned roughly halfway between the other two.
Free shuttle available to explore restaurants and beaches at all three resorts.
Generally the least expensive of the three St. Lucia properties — good value with full multi-resort access.
BEACH
Calm water, relaxing wave sounds throughout the resort.
Not a party beach — ideal for guests who want to unwind.
Very spread out — easy to find a secluded spot or stay near the main areas.
Water is clear once you're in past calf depth — sand is slightly darker than other beaches, a little murky at entry.
Described as underrated by fellow guests.
POOLS
Currently at full capacity with no chair-racing issues — always seating available.
Two main pool vibes:
- Main pool — livelier, three activities per day, swim-up bar, social atmosphere, good for meeting other guests
- Longest pool in the Caribbean — very quiet, has its own bar, preferred by Dan and Michelle for relaxing
ROOMS
Three room level tiers: Luxury, Club Level, Butler.
Luxury vs. Club Level differences:
- Club level rooms may include large bathtubs; luxury rooms trending toward showers
- Club level includes access to the Club Level Lounge — dinner reservations, excursion planning, snacks, espresso machine
- Club and Butler level guests get exclusive activities: wine tasting, cocktail hour, snorkeling plus shopping trip
New room area (previously under construction): three room categories, two with private pools, modern design.
All other rooms are being refreshed or already refurbished — same floor plan, updated look.
Note on privacy: Bathroom doors offer limited privacy in some rooms. Reach out to Dan and Michelle for guidance on best room placement and location relative to road noise.
DINING & BARS
Six restaurants — favorite: Kelly's Dockside for dinner.
Seven bars including swim-up bars and poolside service.
Recent additions:
- Pizza truck for lunch
- Ice cream stop at Bayside
- Coffee cart currently in place; Bloom Coffee shop coming soon with a Parasol-style menu
- Beach Bistro undergoing renovation with a new menu
SPA
No large centralized spa — treatment areas are spread throughout the resort (garden, beach, etc.).
Massage therapists walk the property to explain available treatments and take appointments.
ACTIVITIES & SPORTS
Pickleball: one court only — not ideal if this is a priority.
Tennis: two courts on synthetic grass — other nearby resorts have better-maintained courts.
Golf: nearby course with included shuttle and green fees.
Weekly Taste of St. Lucia night on resort.
EXCURSIONS
Main attraction: visiting the Pitons — options include speedboat, catamaran, or scuba diving (included in stay).
Noted as leaning touristy but worth doing at least once.
Recommended off-resort experience: cooking class through Island Roots — garden visit, herb and spice education, three-course St. Lucian meal, graduation ceremony.
GUEST MIX
Strong honeymoon presence but also returning guests — some with 300+ nights at Sandals properties.
Draws guests of all ages seeking an intimate, quiet experience.
If you want more activity, Dan and Michelle recommend one of the other two St. Lucia Sandals resorts.
GETTING THERE
All three St. Lucia Sandals resorts are on the opposite side of the island from the main airport.
Free shuttle included — but it's a long winding drive (motion sickness risk).
Alternate options:
- Helicopter transfer — scenic and fast
- Boat transfer — similar time to the drive but Dan and Michelle were escorted by dolphins; recommend Dramamine
CLOSING
No major renovations planned — resort intentionally kept as-is.
Room renovations finishing up. Beach Bistro renovation and Bloom Coffee coming soon.
