Encore at Wynn Las Vegas - Hotel Review

Introduction

This is what it's like to stay at the Encore at the Wynn Resort in Las Vegas. In this video, I'll cover everything you need to know if you're considering staying here — including a tour of the common amenities, a walkthrough of the King Room (the cheapest room available), my pros and cons, what I paid, and whether you should consider staying here.

Note: This is part of the Wynn Resort property. I have a separate review of the Wynn side, so this video will focus specifically on the Encore.

Property Overview

The Encore is a 48-story building with 2,034 guest rooms. It's the younger, hipper sister of the Wynn Resort, opening in December 2008. All rooms are suites starting at 745 square feet — about 100 square feet larger than comparable Wynn rooms.

Arrival & Check-In

If arriving by taxi or rideshare, you'll be dropped at the main valet entrance. Note there are two valet drops — the second is exclusively for Tower Suite guests, who have their own lobby.

Check-in is to the right of the main entrance. The line was long during my visit, so I used the self-check-in kiosks — a smooth 90-second process. I scanned my driver's license, it found my reservation, and printed two keys.

Self-Parking: Free for hotel guests. The garage is clean and well-maintained, with jazz music playing in the elevator lobby. Note that the Encore garage is separate from the Wynn garage — make sure you park in the correct one.

Ground Floor Amenities

  • Coffee Shop — Located to the right of the registration desk. Open until 4 p.m. only. For 24-hour coffee, head to the Wynn side.
  • Lobby Bar — 24/7 bar with food and drinks, just left of the registration desk.
  • Sundry Shop — Small gift shop next to the bar for essentials. You can also purchase soap, shampoo, and conditioner to take home.
  • Casino — Refined and quieter than the Wynn side, with lighter theming and smaller crowds due to the Encore's more northern strip location.

Dining:

  • Sinatra — Encore steakhouse. No children 5 and under.
  • Casa Playa — Coastal Mexican food.
  • Wazoozoo — Pan-Asian restaurant. All menu prices end in .88 cents (lucky numbers).
  • Jardine — Brunch restaurant near the pool, open mornings through mid-afternoon with outdoor poolside seating.

Entertainment & Other:

  • Encore Beach Club — Day club adjacent to Casa Playa, open to the public with an admission fee.
  • Poker Room — Serves the entire Wynn campus.
  • XS Nightclub
  • Awakening Theater — Home of the Awakening Show.
  • Shopping Hallway — Connects the Encore to the Wynn, lined with luxury retail shops.

Spa & Pool Level (2nd Floor)

  • Fitness Center — Open 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nicely appointed but on the smaller side. As an Encore guest, you also have access to the Wynn fitness center; the Encore's is actually the larger of the two.
  • Coffee/Juice Shop — Located near the fitness center entrance, with complimentary fruit available.
  • Salon — Currently closed; guests are directed to the Wynn side.

Pools: The Encore has its own pool, though it's relatively small and was closed during my winter visit. Encore guests always have access to the Wynn pool complex, which is significantly larger. The pool kept open year-round is the Sunset Pool — typically a topless bathing pool, but clothing-required when children are present. Amenities include a poolside bar, a stage for performances, a seasonal casino, and cabanas ranging from single to two-story. Note: pools close at 4 p.m. in winter.

Guest Room Floors

The hallways have a modern, opulent feel with a slight curve to the building — which also helps with noise reduction. The tree-branch aesthetic carries through the décor, including the hallway lamps. Ice machines are located at the far end of each floor, away from the elevator lobby to minimize noise.

Room Tour — King Room, Room 1119 (11th Floor)

Entry: The door handle features a sparkly silver tree-branch design. Upon entering, the room is dark with curtains closed. Pressing the "All On" button simultaneously turns on all lights and opens the curtains — a nice touch.

Bedroom:

  • King bed with grand red, white, and gold headboard
  • Nightstands with drawers on each side — one includes a Holy Bible, the other has USB and US power outlets
  • Tablet on each nightstand used to control the TV, room settings, in-room dining, and drapes
  • High ceilings throughout

Living Room Area:

  • Large sofa
  • Mirrored walls (adds to the sense of space)
  • Desk that doubles as a dining table with seating for two
  • Alexa device
  • Multiple recessed ceiling lights and accent lighting throughout
  • Several drawers for storage

Mini Bar Area:

  • Mini fridge stocked with mini-bar items (not complimentary, minimal room for personal items)
  • Ice bucket, standard glasses, and fancy glasses
  • No in-room coffee or tea setup currently

Television:

  • Swivels to face both the bed and living room area
  • Controlled via the tablet

View: Facing north from the 11th floor — views of Fontainebleau, Resorts World, Westgate, and the Convention Center. With no tall buildings directly surrounding the Encore, most floors have a solid view.

Closet:

  • In-room safe
  • Extra bedding
  • Ironing board
  • Luggage rack (illuminated)

Bathroom

An impressive, palatial bathroom featuring:

  • Double sinks with a sitting stool
  • Gold-framed TV with simple remote
  • Bar soap, body lotion, shoe polish, cotton swabs
  • Large soaking tub
  • Walk-in shower with fixed and handheld showerheads — shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided (small take-home toiletries still available)
  • Night light mode (illuminates only the toilet room)
  • Phone in the toilet room
  • Elongated toilet
  • "Emergency backup" toilet paper with a service sticker
  • Robes provided

Pros

  • Exceptional room design — Thoughtfully designed, well-maintained, and spotlessly clean
  • Parlor-style suite layout — The wall separating the bedroom from the living room is a signature Encore feature; great for couples or working travelers
  • Larger than Wynn rooms — The suite layout adds usable, separate living space
  • Impressive bathroom — Everything you'd want, including a gold-framed TV
  • Short walk from self-parking — About 2 minutes to check-in, 3 minutes total to the room elevators
  • Excellent soundproofing — No noise from outside or the hallway on the 11th floor
  • Quiet, well-maintained HVAC — Silent, smooth operation
  • Free self-parking for hotel guests
  • Bright room — Ideal for video calls or content creation
  • Year-round pool access — At least one pool stays open in winter

Cons

  • Less central location — The Encore sits farther north on the strip than the Wynn tower, making it a longer walk to most major properties and attractions
  • Key amenities are on the Wynn side — The year-round pool, 24-hour coffee shop, and buffet are all a walk away on the Wynn side
  • Closer to less — Nearest neighbors include Resorts World, Circus Circus, and Fontainebleau rather than the Venetian, Palazzo, Fashion Show Mall, or the Sphere
  • (Note: Tacos El Gordo nearby is a legitimate upside for taco lovers)

Final Verdict

Would we stay here again? Absolutely — provided the price is right. At $486 for the night before New Year's Eve, this was genuinely solid value within the luxury tier of the Las Vegas Strip. If you want one of the best hotel rooms Vegas has to offer and are willing to pay for it, the Encore is worth serious consideration.

Also recommended: The reviewer's separate Wynn review, and the Palazzo review (especially for families with kids).
