Norwegian Luna - Full Ship Review

Norwegian Cruise Line's Most Talked-About Ship

The Ship & First Impressions

The Norwegian Luna is NCL's newest vessel and sister ship to the Norwegian Aqua. With the Aqua setting a high bar, the Luna had a lot to prove. This review covers the christening sailing, testing new and returning features across several days onboard.

The Stateroom

  • Balcony cabin on Deck 12 with good sunset views
  • Feels very spacious — notably roomier than the Aqua in feel
  • Bathroom felt larger than expected
  • Beautiful Luna-themed décor — constellation artwork, rich colors
  • Storage highlights: extra space under the bed, great for luggage or strollers
  • Love seat area — good for getting ready or watching a movie
  • Vanity mirror included
  • Charging setup — USB and USB-C built directly into the bedside lamp, plus additional outlets on the wall
  • Bed rating: 8.5 out of 10 — comfortable, spacious, high-quality pillows
  • Welcome gift delivered to the room: branded Luna bag with notebook, sleep mask, lavender room spray, and a Norwegian Luna pen

Food & Dining

17 places to eat with 15+ cuisines — something for everyone onboard.

Indulge Food Hall

  • NCL's signature food hall concept, one of the standout spots on the ship
  • Stations include:
    • Seaside Rotisserie
    • Plenary (vegan and vegetarian options)
    • Pasta
    • Latin Quarter
    • Desserts
    • Luna Bar (craft cocktails)
  • Must-try: bacon-wrapped almond dates
  • Highlighted dishes: rotisserie chicken, macaroni salad, guac and chips

Surfside Café

  • Main buffet option
  • Enjoyed for breakfast with a beautiful pool view

Onda (Italian Restaurant)

  • One of the best meals of the trip
  • Standout dishes:
    • Branzino — among the best ever had
    • Stromboli-style pull-apart bread with cheese and Italian meats
    • Beef carpaccio — beautiful presentation
    • Pizza with a notable cheese pull and slight spice kick
  • Do not skip this restaurant

Sukhothai (Thai Restaurant)

  • A personal favorite on the ship
  • Visited on the final day — strong flavors, highly recommended

Swell Wine Bar

  • Quiet, intimate, and elegant — great for a peaceful drink
  • Menu organized by beverage package tier
  • Strong selection of French wines available by glass or bottle
  • Notable selection of alcohol-free wines throughout the ship

Belvedere Bar

  • Makes what may be the best espresso martinis at sea

Entertainment & Activities

The Sly Coaster (Roller Coaster)

  • Record-breaking attraction returning from the Aqua
  • Much faster than it appears from watching others
  • Countdown lights add to the anticipation
  • Verdict: wild, epic, and absolutely worth it

Drop Slide

  • Dry drop slide — a different experience from a water slide
  • Thrilling first-time experience

Moon Climber Obstacle Course

  • Two-story moon landing-themed obstacle course
  • New experience exclusive to the Luna

Glow Court

  • Interactive glow-in-the-dark activity area

Tea Time Mini Golf

  • Full mini golf course onboard
  • Highly competitive and entertaining

Shows & Nightlife

Elton (Elton John Tribute Show)

  • Visually stunning — effects and production cannot be fully captured on camera
  • Features iconic songs and audience participation
  • Pro tip: Arrive 30–45 minutes early and aim for a middle seat
  • Verdict: must-do, 100%

Lunatix (Adults-Only Show)

  • Traveling circus-style concept — NCL's most boundary-pushing show to date
  • Four themed cocktails paired with music performances and skits
  • Audience participation throughout
  • Cost: approximately $40–$45 (includes four cocktails — solid value)
  • For guests who want something edgy and unexpected
  • Verdict: entertaining, music is great, pushes the envelope in a fun way

The Mandara Spa & Thermal Suite

  • Stunning design with cascading waterfall walls
  • Thermal suite experience: hot room with aromatic coals → ice room → relaxation
  • Highly recommended for a rest day
  • Staff highlighted: Melissa — standout crew member

Vibe Beach Club

  • Premium adults-only area
  • Ample loungers and chairs
  • High energy atmosphere, similar to the Aqua
